Determination

I love seeing the determination children have. As a person grows older that kind of determination fades. Thoughts of failure limit what we expect of ourselves. When was the last time you had the determination to accomplish what seemed impossible?

Max attempted to accomplish fitting his whole body into the toy. He hasn't succeeded yet, but I am sure he will keep trying!

The weatherman says...

stay inside!! It has been freezing rain all night and is going to continue until this evening. Then we are lucky enough to get snow on top of the freezing rain. :) Sounds like a good day to stay in and make some cookies.

A little coffee= A lot of laughs

Ron and I went out with some friends last night, Brian and Mary, to a comedy show and some dinner. The show was hilarious!! Ron and I were both laughing hysterically! After the show we made our way (somehow) to Racoon River Brewing Company for some dinner. The food was great and the company was better. We definitely have to do this again sometime. (And I am sure I will still give the waitress a stupid look when she asks me how I want my tuna cooked.)

Stream of Consciousness

Gavin has been working his brain in high gear this weekend. I am not sure he even stopped to take a breath between the 1 billion "whys" and "how comes". He has also expanded from asking only questions, to also telling me about things I don't know about. Here are a few...

"Did you know that if a person has no legs he can't walk? And if a person has only one leg he will have to hop everywhere. I think that would hurt my foot if I had to hop all the time."

"Why can the moon and the sun be out at the same time?"

"Did you know the moon goes down where there is water?"

"Which way is left in our house?"

"Are all these people going to the mall?"

"If they aren't going to the mall then where are they going?"

"Where do apples come from?"

"Where does steak come from?"

"Where do hotdogs come from?" (I am curious about this myself, actually...)

"Who made cups?"

This is just a 1 minute version of what he had to say. It wears me out!!!

The devil comes in a box

The devil has snuck up on me and so I feel I must warn everyone so they will see the warning signs before it is too late.

The devil is encased in a little metallic box with an antennae on the back. It has several pretty blinking lights. It goes by the name of Linksys Wireless-G Print Server. Avoid this at all costs!!!

I was lured in by this demon through promises of being able to print documents without having to directly hook my computer up to the printer. I was mesmerized by the thought of working on my laptop at the kitchen table and not have to run to the basement to print something. I was not deterred by the high cost of the product, because it was going to work miracles for me. I, however, was deceived. After many many many hours trying to install the device, the devil damned my Internet modem to Hell. My modem's lights went dark and there was little hope of returning it to a time when it's green lights shone brightly. Not only had the devil taken the life out of my modem, it had also lowered me to a level of cursing and yelling.

Our household has been in this state for almost two months now, but today the modem and I overcame the devil by finally speaking to an angel (for 3 hours) in technical support who actually knew what she was doing and did not speak in tongues. I believe the 4 people I had previously spoken with may have had a pact with this devil, but, alas, I can not be certain.

This angel in technical support led me down the path to understanding and my modem (and I) now see the green neon light shining. It is truly a miracle! I can now sit at my kitchen table and print a document in my basement.

Too bad I have nothing to print right now.

Re-decorating.

Ron and I are thinking about moving the boys into one bedroom. They currently have their own room, but it would be nice to have a room for craft, computer, files, spare bed, etc. So we are considering buying a bunkbed, with a full size bed on the bottom, and having both boys sleep on the bottom bed for now. When Gavin gets older he could move to the top bunk. BUT... I am not exactly how much sleeping they would get done if they were both in the same room and same bed. It might just be asking for trouble.

On the other hand, though, my sister and I shared a room nearly all of our childhood, and we managed to get enough sleep. (Granted we were yelled at nearly every night to quiet down and go to sleep.)

Slumberland has a bed that would be perfect. Do we dare?!
