Race For The Cure

Saturday Ron ran the 5k and the boys and I walked the 1 mile in the Race for the Cure. What an honor it is to say that we had a part in this huge event. There were over 20,000 people signed up for this event.
I walked in memory of Grandma and Aunt Janet and in celebration of Aunt Jane.

Pumpkin Carving Festival

This past weekend we attended a pumpkin carving festival at a friend's house. There were a lot of parents and kids having fun, eating food, and carving pumpkins. All of this for a good cause, too! They raised money for "Shoes that Fit" a non-profit that raises money for clothing for local children who do not have the money to buy clothes that fit.

A Plea

Here is my plea. My one time I am going to beg for something on my Christmas list. (okay, not really the 'one time') I need a new handheld mixer. Now, I put things like this on my list and no one ever gets me this kind of thing. I asked for a label maker two years in a row and never received it. I could have gone and bought it myself, but that wasn't the point. I don't need jewelry or new clothes (well, actually, I do need new clothes). What I want most is a really good handheld mixer. I am a lazy baker and don't want to kill myself stirring dough to make cookies.

Today I was making pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting for Bunco tonight. My current mixer is in sad shape and it is a peril to myself and to others. However, I did use it to make the frosting. The lingering burning motor smell that hangs in the air will hopefully pass before Ron makes it home. As I was taking the beaters out of the mixer I noticed that rust has eaten its way almost completely through the stem part of the beater. I could probably break it completely off with little effort. Hopefully the rust doesn't cause any long-term illnesses to those who eat the bars.

So, to my 3 faithful readers. One of you should buy me a handheld mixer for Christmas.

Yeah for Ron!!

Ron has passed all of his written tests for his CDL license!! Next is the driving test. He should do okay except for backing up. He isn't very good at that, but he has been practicing. Hopefully luck will be on his side and he'll whip through the driving test like an old pro! He is going to take the driving test either today or tomorrow.

grape pie

My dad, grandma, and I made 19 grape pie fillings and froze them. We baked the 20th and taste tested. Yum!!

FYI

MAX IS BACK TO NORMAL!!! The swelling is mostly gone and the hives are completely gone!! Now we are just down to the breathing treatments and hopefully his wheezing will go away too. :)

Bondurant Homecoming Parade

It is a busy day in the town of Bondurant. Today was the Homecoming Parade, which, from start to finish, lasted about 5 minutes. Who, do you ask, are we playing for our Homecoming Game?? The truth is, it doesn't really matter 'cause we'll lose no matter what. It is a tradition that has been held on to since I was kid. GO BLUEJAYS!!
