Made-to-order

I recently was going for a walk in my neighborhood with my kids when I struck up a conversation with a gal I know down the street. She oohed and aahed about Max's curly blonde hair and Gavin's big blue eyes and really long eye lashes. Right away I knew what would be said next.

"You should have a girl with that curly hair and those big blue eyes!"

Of course I have to agree with this brilliant idea, like I hadn't thought of that before, like when I placed my last order for a kid this whole idea hadn't crossed my mind. What else am I supposed to do but agree? I did conduct a test once to see what would happen if I disagreed with the idea of a blond, curly haired, blue-eyed girl. The results were disastrous. The woman narrowed her eyes and glared at me like I had blasphemed.

It seems the majority of the population that I come across have access to this made-to-order child business. If ever I decide to order a child I will be sure to find the woman with the narrow glaring eyes and ask her where the nearest drive-thru is. I will be sure to ask for a child who cleans their room, is already potty trained, and only says "no" when being offered drugs. Oh yeah.... and curly, blonde hair and blue eyes.

Inquiring minds want to know!

Gavin has been busy today asking question after question. Here are a few...

If God and Jesus are everywhere, than why can't we see them?
Where does wind come from?
Why does it rain?

Employee of the Month

Ron's "suit up and show up" attitude has landed him Employee of the Month at work. Plus he was also given recognition for his help with training and so he also received a Mountain Dew beach towel.

It is so awesome that Pepsi gives this kind of recognition to their employees. And a big WOOT to Ron for all of his hard work!!

These pics are from Ron's company picnic last weekend. He signed up for the Driving Derby. He had to take the semi through an obstacle course of parallel parking, backing into a make-shift dock station, weaving around pylons, and then backing up around the same pylons, and finally backing into a second dock station. Let's just say he received an "E" for effort and that is what matters most... Right?!

Ron and Gavin's conversation....

Ron: It is time for bed.
Gavin: No.
Ron: Yes, it is. Let's go upstairs.
Gavin: No it's not. I get to go to bed late tonight.
Ron: It is late. Let's go. (Ron picks him up and starts carrying him upstairs.)
Gavin: (whining) No it's not. I get to go to bed at 30 o'clock tonight.
Ron: Well, it's way past that. It's practically 40 o'clock, which means it's your bedtime.

The River

What an awesome site. Riding my bike for 477 miles across Iowa to be able to see the Mississippi River at the end. Beautiful!!

opportunities along the way

I have added some more pics to my previous posts. Along the route a person could pay to either fly in an ultralight plane or a small prop plane. The lines were enormous so we didn't do either.

Public restroom

Dad was nice enough to get a picture of me coming out of the "public" restroom. Hey! When you gotta go, You Gotta Go!!!
